Are people becoming immune to online ads?

I feel like people automatically ignore advertisements nowadays.

Banner blindness seems more real than ever.

How do advertisers keep people’s attention in 2026?
 
I think people do ignore a lot of ads now, especially when they feel too obvious or repetitive. Keeping the content simple and actually giving people a reason to stop scrolling seems to work better.

People do ignore a lot of ads, but probably not the majority of them. If most ads were completely ignored, businesses wouldn’t be reaching their customers at all.
 
I do not consider them to be immune, but they most frequently ignore ads. They receive hundreds of them per day, so it is natural to remove those who do not seem relevant to them. The effective ads are those that have some value or catch attention, not disappear.

Yeah, I agree. People aren’t completely immune to ads, but they’ll ignore them pretty quickly when they don’t feel relevant or interesting enough.
