I tried it and it's useful especially when you want your posts and overall presence to be seen by more people and their built-in analytics are pretty good if you want to be more in depth.

I would suggest facebook since it has a large audience and you have access to analytics.

I agree. FB is also the easiest to get into and to start marketing in. And you can market both through organic ways and paid ads.
