When a popular item sells out, do you leave the product page up with a "notify me when back in stock" email form, or do you hide the listing entirely until it's restocked? What keeps buyers from going to a competitor?

I think the notify me works best because it promises the customer that somehow you will restock the item. However, if you just hide the item listing, people will often just go looking for another store that has a similar item.

I’d keep the product page up and add a “notify me” option. That way, interested customers can still see the product and get updated once it’s available again instead of having to look somewhere else.

I’d do the same. Keeping the page up with a notify option gives people a reason to come back instead of making them search for the product somewhere else.

Make it easy for customers to ask about the restock. Sometimes they just want to know when the product will be available again, so giving them an option to sign up for restock updates would help too.

It can also help prevent customers from moving on to another store just because they couldn’t find the product right away. Keeping them informed gives them a reason to come back.

I think regular updates through social media or live announcements can help keep customers interested, even when certain items aren't available yet. It gives sellers a chance to explain the situation, share restock updates, and keep buyers engaged instead of leaving them wondering when the product will be available again.
