Poor targeting, bad ads, or a weak landing page—which one wastes the most money in your experience?

I think a weak landing page can be the biggest problem. You can get people to click the ad, but if the page doesn’t give them enough reason to buy, most of those clicks just go to waste.

Poor targeting would probably waste the most money. You can have a good ad, but if it’s being shown to people who aren’t really interested in the product, the clicks won’t mean much.

In most cases, the cause of a failed PPC campaign isn't traffic-related. I've seen a lot of PPC campaigns fail because they were poorly managed in some way (too broad of targeting or messaging, or the offer just wasn't interesting enough). PPC campaigns can certainly get you traffic, but that doesn't help you if you aren't able to drive conversions through other means. All parts of a campaign have to be working together well in order to see results.

I’d also pay close attention to the landing page and checkout experience. Even a good campaign can lose potential customers if the next steps aren’t clear or easy to follow.

There are several reasons a PPC campaign can fail, but I'd say one major issue is not having a clear direction from the start. Some businesses jump into advertising without properly identifying their target audience, campaign goals, or the platform that best suits their needs. Without those basics, it's easy to spend money on clicks that don't bring meaningful results and end up exceeding the budget without achieving what the campaign was meant to do.
