I’m running a small nail business and slowly building an audience, so I’ve been looking into affiliate programs as another way to grow without throwing a huge budget at advertising.

I’m curious what actually works for micro-influencers and small beauty brands—which programs are worth joining, which ones are a waste of time, and whether smaller niche offers can outperform the big-name programs.

What affiliate programs have actually been worth it for you?

Amazon Associates gets you in the door, but honestly, that 1% to 3% beauty commission rate feels like picking up nickels off the sidewalk.

Total waste of traffic. Amazon works if you’re doing massive volume, but for micro-creators, niche brand programs pay 10% to 20% and convert way better because your audience actually trusts your specific polish recommendations.

Exactly. I’ve had way better luck pitching directly to indie and mid-tier nail brands think Kiara Sky, Makartt, or Modelones. Their reward programs give you a custom 10% discount code for your followers, which gives them a real reason to buy through you.

That discount code is key. People hate clunky affiliate links, but a memorable discount code in your caption or bio feels like an exclusive perk you negotiated for them.

Have you tried LTK or ShopMy yet? Every beauty influencer seems to push LTK, but getting approved as a smaller account was a nightmare for me.

ShopMy is definitely replacing LTK for smaller creators. It’s easier to set up, looks cleaner on your bio link, and their brand network is huge for beauty and nail care.

Good to know! What about affiliate platforms like ShareASale or Impact?

Worth joining once you have steady traffic, but don't waste time applying to 50 merchants. Pick 3 to 5 core brands whose prep products, lamps, or builder gels you actually use every single day in your set tutorials.

Quality over quantity wins every time— authentic recommendations beat a generic link tree full of products you've never touched.
