Are unboxing experiences worth the extra packaging cost for online orders?

Custom branded boxes, tissue paper, and thank-you notes add about $2 per order to my fulfillment costs. Do buyers actually post about custom packaging or care enough to make it worth the expense?

A lot of customers do like those personalized notes or custom packagings. People appreciate the effort. It makes people remember. However, you have to weigh the cost vs price of the product. If you're selling a $5.00 product and the cost of the additional stuff is $2, then it may not be worth it. But I say for high-ticket packages (maybe for something $50 or even $100) then definitely that extra touch can make it seem personal and give your customers something to remember you by. As a general rule 3-5% of the price of the product can be spent on that.
