I get about 50 promo emails a day and skip almost all of them. Does anyone here actually see good open rates with a basic newsletter nowadays?

Basic newsletter is okay, but level up or upgrade your newsletter app or just go for premium ones so that it can expand easily.

Email still works when readers know what value to expect before they subscribe. A broad newsletter is easy to ignore, while a short weekly teardown, checklist, or industry update has a clear purpose. Consistency matters because readers learn what they will receive and when it will arrive. I would judge performance by clicks, replies, and conversions rather than open rate alone. Removing inactive subscribers can also give you a more accurate view of engagement. Separating customers from prospects should make each message more relevant.
