How do you decide when to merge or archive underperforming Pinterest boards?

I have several older boards with overlapping topics, and a few barely generate impressions or clicks anymore. Do you merge them into a stronger board, archive them, or leave them alone for historical value? Which metrics and time window do you use before changing the board structure?

I’d compare at least the last 90 days with the prior 90, then look at impressions, saves, and outbound clicks per 1,000 impressions—not raw totals alone. If two boards serve the same search intent, I’d move the strongest pins into the clearer, better-named board and archive the weaker one after a short observation period. If their intent is genuinely different, I’d keep both and refresh the low performer’s title, description, and pin mix before deciding. Historical value alone wouldn’t be enough reason to keep a board public.

I’d look at the last 90 days and compare impressions, saves, outbound clicks, and how much the board overlaps with stronger boards. If two boards target nearly the same search intent, I’d consolidate future pins into the clearer board rather than deleting history immediately. I’d archive a board only when its topic no longer fits the account or it has stayed inactive across a full seasonal cycle. Before changing anything, export the baseline metrics so you can tell whether the cleanup actually improves distribution.
