I was curious to know your thoughts about this one. What makes a brand iconic?

Is it because people instantly recognize the brand, or is there more to it?
I think a brand becomes iconic when its products have proven over time that they actually work. Consistency and trust build up, and eventually people recognize the brand because they know what to expect from it.

I mean, some people buy the product for the brand itself, like Gucci, Loewe, and many more. I think that’s one of the things that makes a brand iconic. The name itself already has value.

An iconic brand should have strong associations in the mind of the consumer. It should have some level of distinctiveness, which makes it identifiable, and it generally has a presence in the minds of the people in the long term. What makes a brand iconic is its ability to leverage certain associations that are valuable, unique, and enduring. It usually appeals to a certain category of people and is not trying to be everything to everybody, and although brand recognition is important, it is not enough to make a brand iconic.

Nice! Completely agree on this one.

I think it’s when you can recognize a brand right away without even seeing its name. Like, Coca-Cola is a good example for me. Their colors and overall look are so familiar that you already know what brand it is before you even read anything.

Yeah, I agree with you on this one. When you can recognize a brand right away just from its colors, logo, or overall look, I think that really shows how strong its identity is.

It’s also about how familiar a brand becomes over time. When people start thinking of it right away whenever they need a certain product, that’s when you know the brand really stuck with them.

A brand can really stick with you when you connect it with a certain feeling or experience. It’s not just about recognizing the name, but remembering what the brand is known for and how it made you feel.

I get this. That’s why I usually stick to one brand when I find something that actually works well for me. Once you have a good experience with a product, it’s hard to switch to another brand.
