There are times when a coworker needs a little help, but you're also trying to finish your own tasks before the deadline. Would you still take some time to help them out, or would you focus on getting your own work done first? How do you find a balance between being a helpful teammate and managing your own responsibilities?

They should. Having coworkers who are willing to help each other makes the workload easier to manage, especially when things get busy. Sometimes, even a little help can make a big difference and save someone a lot of time. As long as you are still able to manage your own responsibilities, there is nothing wrong with lending a hand when a teammate needs it.

You should always ask first if they are available to help. Just because you work together does not mean you can automatically expect them to take on some of your responsibilities, especially when they have their own deadlines to meet. It can also feel like you are taking advantage of their kindness if you keep asking without considering their workload. Being helpful is great, but we should still respect each other's time and keep things professional.

Yeah, a little respect and consideration go a long way in situations like this. It can come across as rude when someone keeps asking for help without even checking if the other person is available, especially when they are already dealing with something. We should be mindful of how we approach our coworkers because being part of the same team does not mean we can disregard their time.
