What’s a “Beginner Mistake” That Actually Cost You Money?

I’m still figuring things out, so I’d love to hear about the mistakes that caught you off guard when you were starting out. What happened, and what did you learn from it?

One mistake I made was buying tools and subscriptions before I really needed them. I thought having more resources would make things easier, but I barely used half of what I paid for. Now I try free options first and only spend money when I know it’ll actually help.

Underestimating small expenses was a mistake I learned from early on. Things like transaction fees and shipping costs seemed insignificant at first, but they added up and ate into my profits. Now I make sure to account for those costs before setting my prices.

The rookie mistake is to invest money in advertising without proper testing of an offer. It seems logical to argue that better statistics and increased visibility will result in more sales, but the reality is much more complicated. I would test the ad and the page it leads to for relevance, readability, and general appeal before investing more money in it.
